2023年开学典礼上，北京脑所联合所长罗敏敏向全体新生表达了热切的欢迎与期待。面对即将踏上全新科研旅程的同学们，罗老师为大家在CIBR的科研生活提出了一份“指南”。

Good morning faculty, and more importantly, our new first-year graduate students.

各位老师、我们今年的新生们，大家早上好。

Welcome to CIBR, where the days are long, but the years are short —— mostly because you will lose track of time in the lab. Here, science meets innovation, and we work tirelessly towards unraveling the intricate mysteries that lie within the human brain.

欢迎大家来到CIBR，在这里你们将会理解为什么说“长日漫漫，岁月如梭”——主要是因为你们会在实验室里忙到忘记时间。在这里，科学与创新相遇，我们的研究人员们孜孜不倦地努力解开人类大脑的奥秘。

As you stand on the threshold of a journey that promises to be both challenging and fulfilling, let me assure you that you are about to become part of a community that is at the forefront of neuroscience research in the world. Here, we not only delve deep into understanding the complex mechanisms that govern the human brain, but also strive to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

如今你们即将面对一段注定充满了挑战性与成就感的旅途。在此我向各位保证，你们即将加入的，是世界神经科学研究的前沿阵地。在这里，我们不仅深入探究人脑运行的复杂机制，同时尽心营造善于协作、勇于创新、追求卓越的科研文化。

As you navigate through your time here, I expect that you will make excellent friends. Why? Because you always know what's on others' minds. I encourage you to engage actively with your peers, collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, and take advantage of the rich resources and opportunities that our institute offers. I just want to mention that our core facilities are the best, even at the entire global level.
